Background & Approach

Keith Messick is a licensed AIA, NCARB, and LEED accredited architect with extensive leadership experience as a former owner of design-build and boutique firms and as a Principal at a national Houston firm. Currently a Founding Partner and Principal at KnZ Architects, he also designs modern luxury homes through T. Keith Messick, Architect, PLLC. His expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, including land-use analysis, proforma development, and technology integration across projects of all scales. His diverse portfolio covers office, medical, multifamily, hospitality, retail, industrial, and luxury residential markets. Beyond design, Keith is a partner at CRE Capital Solutions, LLC, where he facilitates development projects by addressing equity shortages. Outside of his career, he is dedicated to his faith, family, and mentoring, while enjoying golf, strength training, hunting, fishing, and international travel.

History
1998

Foundation

In 1998, Mr. Messick left a corporate Houston firm to pursue independent architectural design. This venture quickly evolved into a design-build company, merging his unique design theory with his construction expertise. By personally building his own architectural projects, he established the foundational model for KnZ.

2012

Strategic Rebranding

Keith separated his architecture group from the design-build firm to overcome market biases and diversify his target audience. This strategic rebranding allowed for increased contract execution and greater creative focus on pure architecture. The business thrived until the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2022) decimated the office and interior markets, forcing a critical pivot.

2023

A Merging

A soft merger with a large firm seemed to be the best solution.

2025

A Bold New Direction

The merger and subsequent role in that firm just wasn’t what Keith was looking for so he made a bold decision to start over
